Chesapeake General Hospital

For 35 years, our hospital has been privileged to provide care to the Hampton Roads community. Every day brings many reasons to celebrate as we implement new methods of treatment and creative ways to preserve health.

Perhaps our greatest contribution, however, is our caregivers, the employees, physicians and volunteers who provide genuine concern for their patients. This, we have found, promotes the most effective healing of all.

Chesapeake General Hospital

As the cornerstone of the Chesapeake Regional Medical Center family of services, Chesapeake General Hospital has 310 all-private beds, arranged in special nursing units to provide the best possible care for our patients.

The hospital is a major health resource for southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina residents. It has nearly 600 physicians on staff from every major discipline.

It is governed by the Chesapeake Hospital Authority, an 11-member board composed of area citizens who ensure that the hospital remains focused on providing services the community wants and values.

Chesapeake General helps care for the uninsured

In Hampton Roads, there are increasing numbers of patients who arrive without healthcare.

Committed to healthcare and our community

Chesapeake Regional is committed to providing access to anyone, no matter their financial situation. Part of our mission is to serve the uninsured and needy. We do that in lots of ways.

Last year, we provided $20 million in charity care services for direct patient care to those without health insurance.
Chesapeake Regional Medical Center provides support both financially and with our staff’s volunteer time to the Chesapeake Care Free Clinic.

We contribute to more than 40 community organizations with various causes throughout the year.

Our staff, physicians and administrators each year donate significantly to such causes as the United Way of South Hampton Roads and the Chesapeake Regional Health Foundation.
