Bariatric Support Group Breast Cancer Support Group Chesapeake Regional Medical Center sponsors a breast cancer support group that is open to newly diagnosed women as well as survivors. If you have breast cancer, you are not alone. We are here for you. At the meetings, women share concerns and exchange information. Health care professionals speak on topics of interest. Also, members will embrace, comfort, encourage and honor your courageous journey to fight cancer.The group meetings are facilitated by a breast cancer survivor and an oncology nurse. The group meets the first Thursday of each month from 7-8:30 p.m. at Chesapeake Regional's Lifestyle Center. Call 757-312-2232. Caregiver Education Chesapeake Tidewater Celiacs Celiac Disease is an autoimmune disorder that develops due to an intolerance to protein peptides found in wheat, rye and barley. It is a multisystem disorder that may wax and wane for decades. This disease is treatable without medication, or surgery. The support group features short informational programs, information about recent medical research, and promotions of upcoming events and legislation. It is sponsored by the Celiac Disease Foundation, a nonprofit group that promotes awareness, research and supports kids with Celiac disease to camp in the summer. Meetings are held every third Thursday from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Lifestyle Center. Laughing Pioneers Sponsored by the Alzheimer's Association of Hampton Roads. Join members of this early memory loss support group as they focus on the needs of people who have early stages of dementia or memory impairment. The group meets the fourth Monday of the month from 10 a.m. to noon at the Lifestyle Center. Call 757-312-6555. Multiple Scoliosis Support Group People Helping People Stroke Survivors & Care Partner Support Group Chesapeake Regional Medical Center wants to help stroke victims and their families become "Stroke Wise" by hosting this support group. Participants will learn self-care strategies that will increase functional quality. In addition, they will discover healthy coping skills to help them live with the effects of stroke. Meets the first Monday of the month, from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Lifestyle Center. Call 757-312-6122. Widowed Persons Service Widowed Persons Service (WPS) is a volunteer network of widowed men and women of all ages who have worked their way through their own grief and want to help the newly widowed learn to deal with their emotions and adjustments.
We offer group support, shared meals and social activities when you are ready to reach out to others. There is no charge.
