Bariatric surgeons specialize in surgery on the stomach and/or intestines to help those with extreme obesity achieve significant weight loss.
Dr. Eric Yancey is a board-certified general and bariatric surgeon who serves as medical director of Chesapeake
Regional Medical Center's Bariatric Surgery Program. Yancey received his medical degree from the Medical
College of Virginia's School of Medicine, where he also completed his internship. Dr. Yancey did his residency
at Howard University Hospital. He also served as chief resident at the hospital from 1996-1997.
In addition to his medical degree, Dr. Yancey has a master's degree in cardiovascular pharmacology. He is the recipient of several honors and awards, including the 2004 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Award for Humanitarian Service to the Community.
