Fitness ClassesFitness instructors are current on all educational credentials, certifications, and are experienced in planning exercise regimen to meet individual needs. As a hospital-based facility, we have programs to suit the needs of those with medical concerns.

Beginner Orientations

Available to all new fitness center members, this orientation includes an equipment orientation, a fitness assessment and one free personal training session. Orientations are scheduled by the fitness staff.

Abs Express

An intense workout designed to strengthen the muscles of the lower back and abdominal wall with a focus on the maintenance of balance and core conditioning training. All levels. Mondays and Wednesdays, 6-6:30 p.m.

Boot Camp

Chesapeake Regional Medical Center's "Boot Camp" gets recruits shipshape with an upbeat, rhythmic vibe, using strength training, plyometrics, speed, power training and aerobic conditioning. The class is considered an intermediate to advanced level. Non-members pay $50 for the 10 class session.

Cardio Mix

A cardiovascular conditioning class that includes low impact floor and/or step moves that are easy to follow. Abdominal training and stretches included. Beginner to intermediate workout. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30-9:30 a.m.

Chair Fitness

Join this non-impact class to build strength, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility and balance, and improve abdominal and lower back strength. Mondays and Fridays, 12:30-1 p.m. The class is free to members. Cost for non-members is $25 a month. Call 312.6132 to register.

Chair Fitness Plus

A more advanced version of the original – cardiovascular, strength and flexibility moves performed while seated as well as standing using the chair as a prop. This class is great for men and women of all ages including S.E.T. participants with the approval from their S.E.T. supervisor. All levels. Thursdays, 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Fit Express

A muscle and cardiovascular conditioning class designed to give you an all-in-one workout in just 30 minutes. Intermediate level. Mondays and Wednesdays, Noon-12:30 p.m.

Lite Circuit

A combination class that combines cardiovascular conditioning with strength and flexibility training. Various resistance equipment equipment is used including bands, balls and steps. All levels. Fridays, 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Lite Fit Express

A muscle and cardiovascular conditioning class designed to give you an all-in-one workout in just 30 minutes for the beginner level. Fridays, 6:15-6:45 a.m.

Pilates
Two four week classes will begin in February. Tuesdays, 6:30-7:30 p.m. and Wednesdays, 9:30-10:30 a.m. The class will focus on core muscle strengthening, flexibility, and toning. Cost is $50 for non-members.

Strength Training

A non-aerobic muscle sculpting class set to music. Exercises are performed using a variety of resistance equipment and tempos to firm and define all major muscle groups. Includes abdominal and flexibility training. All levels. Tuesdays, 5:30-6:30 p.m.; Thursdays, 5:40-6:40 p.m.; and Saturdays, 9-10 a.m.

Stretch Express

This class focuses on joint range of motion, muscle and joint extensibility and relaxation. Targets all muscle groups. This class is great for men and women of all ages including S.E.T. participants with the approval from their S.E.T. supervisor. Tuesdays, 9-9:30 a.m.; Thursdays and Fridays, 10:30-11 a.m.

T'ai Chi

Take the cue from the ancient Chinese by indulging in this technique for health and relaxation. It improves balance and circulation, and also strengthens the immune system. Classes are for all levels. Mondays, 10:45-11:45 a.m. or 2:30-3:30 p.m.; Wednesdays, 10:45-11:45 a.m.; Thursdays, 2:30-3:30 p.m. Ongoing T'ai Chi classes are free to members. Non-members pay $60 for eight sessions, which don’t have to be taken consecutively. For more information or to register, call 312.6132.

Weight loss cardio express

High energy cardiovascular conditioning class that will use interval training, step and high/low impact to get your heart pumping. You can take it at your own pace. All levels are welcome. Mondays and Wednesdays, 5:30-6 p.m.

Yoga

An exceptional class for promoting flexibility made for all levels. A relaxing form of stress management exercise. Yoga enhances your energy level, strengthens your muscles, increases your physical awareness, heightens your powers of concentration, and helps you discover your inner peace. Mondays, from 6:45- 8:15 p.m.; Tuesdays, from 10:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m or 4:15-5:30 p.m.; Wednesdays (advanced Yoga), 6:45-8:15 p.m. Cost: Free to members; $80 for non-members.
