The Surgery Center of Chesapeake is no stereotypical outpatient center
An affiliate of Chesapeake General Hospital, the Surgery Center of Chesapeake is equipped with four state-of-the-art operating suites for such cases as orthopedic, gynecologic, plastic, podiatry, general surgery and a variety of procedures similar to those performed in area hospitals.
But that's where the similarity to most surgery experiences end.
Designed specifically for patient and family comfort, the Surgery Center is staffed by a caring and highly capable staff who care for patients with highly sophisticated technology in a warm and nurturing environment.
The one-on-one experience begins right after your surgery is scheduled. A pre-op nurse calls almost immediately to prepare you for the upcoming procedure. Your nurse will give you instructions and also answer questions about what to expect before, during and after surgery.
A procedure at the surgery center starts with convenient curbside parking that makes access easy. There are plenty of free parking spaces located close to the building for visitors. Once inside, patients and families are welcomed and cared for by a professional staff who focuses on making the surgery experience as painless as possible.
One of the things that sets us apart is the close nurse and patient relationship you experience in the Surgery Center. All the services a patient needs are right here - in an environment that is less hectic than in a traditional hospital setting.
From the admitting area to the recovery area, patients will find the privacy they need even as they are carefully monitored by the medical staff. And recognizing that a healing environment engages all the senses, patient rooms have windows, many of which overlook an outdoor pond and fountain area. Even the operating suites were designed with windows for the soothing effects of natural light.
Family members are allowed to wait with the patient in their rooms before and after the surgery. While the patient is in surgery, there is a spacious, comfortable waiting area with refreshments and even two workstations with phones so family members and friends can keep busy working on their laptop computers if they wish.
The staff is available after surgery to attend to post-surgical needs with gentle and comforting care. It is the philosophy at the center that caring can make the difference between a positive and negative surgical experience.
