Wynn Dixon is named Chesapeake Regional’s CEO PDF Print E-mail

WynnDixonWynn Dixon has been named Chesapeake Regional Medical Center's CEO by the Chesapeake Hospital Authority.

Dixon has served as interim CEO and chief operating officer since January 2010. Authority members named him to the permanent position at their August meeting.

Dixon is only the third CEO to serve the organization, founded in 1976.

"With his breadth of experience and long-term dedication to Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, Wynn Dixon was the board's obvious choice to continue to lead this organization toward the future," said Joe Falk, authority chairman. "His success and leadership during the last nine months as interim CEO has been impressive. We felt it was the right time to make his role official."

A native of Nashville, Tenn., he came to CRMC 15 years ago. He has almost 25 years experience in the healthcare industry and more than 35 years experience in human resources.

Dixon earned s a master's of business administration from The Massey School at Belmont University in Nashville, and a bachelor's degree from David Lipscomb University, also in Nashville.

He has long been active in Hampton Roads' community organizations. He is a past president and assistant district governor for District 7600 of the Rotary Club, and has served on the board of directors of Chesapeake Service Systems, Shared Hospital Services and the Virginia Health Care Waste Management Cooperative. He also serves as the treasurer of the Chesapeake Arboretum board.

"I am appreciative of the confidence the board, the administrative team, physicians and staff have shown in me, and I am proud to continue to serve them and the community to further Chesapeake Regional's mission," Dixon said. "I am humbled."

A resident of Chesapeake, he and his wife, Cheryl, have three grown daughters.
