Chesapeake Regional unveils Magnet Recognition® Trophy during celebration with Nurses and Staff

Chesapeake, Va.– Today Chesapeake Regional Healthcare nurses celebrated their Magnet journey and recognition during an unveiling of the Magnet obelisk. The crystal trophy represents the gold standard for nursing practice and excellence awarded to Chesapeake Regional by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). During the lively celebration, Drew Lumpkin, Senator Mark Warner’s Regional Director, presented a congratulatory letter from the Senator.

“Today’s celebration is an opportunity to reflect on our journey and once again gather to commemorate Chesapeake Regional’s achievement as a Magnet Recognized hospital,” said Amber Amber Egyud, DNP, RN, NE-BC, FAONL, Chief Operating & Nursing Officer.

Chesapeake Regional joins a small, prestigious community of Magnet Recognized organizations. Achieving Magnet is the highest national honor an organization can earn for nursing excellence and it provides consumers with the ultimate benchmark for measuring quality of care. In February, Chesapeake Regional was awarded the achievement, with two exemplars, for its performance above and beyond what is expected during the Magnet journey.

To achieve Magnet recognition, organizations must pass a rigorous and lengthy process that demands widespread participation from leadership and staff. The process includes an electronic application, written patient care documentation, an on-site visit, and an ANCC’s Commission on Magnet Recognition review.
