3 West Nursing Unit Caregiver Education If you have an older family member with depression, dementia or age-related memory impairment, this group may hold answers to your questions. Members discuss signs and symptoms of illness, management strategies and methods for coping with caregiver burden and stress. Dr. G. Palat, medical director of Older Adult Behavioral Health Services, and Lori Hasty, RNCS, gerontology nurse specialist, facilitate the group. Thursdays, 6-8 p.m. Tai Chi for Older Adults Look to the Far East for preventive medicine. Tai chi can help prevent and treat arthritis, plus helps improve circulation and the immune system. This class is designed for active adults as they begin to age. Mondays, 10:45-11:45 a.m. As you approach the golden years, this class can help you earn a gold star for your driving record. New information and lively illustrations help you learn how to improve your driving skills and drive more safely. As a bonus, graduates may be able to qualify for a discount on their auto insurance. The course consists of two classes. Wednesdays and Thursdays 9:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.
