Chesapeake Regional's Radiology Department

The hospital's Radiology Department offers around-the-clock diagnostic testing, as well as direct access to the emergency room, the medical staff and other hospital services.

Whether your testing involves lab work, X-rays or cardiac monitoring, Chesapeake Regional offers a full range of sophisticated diagnostic services including CT, MRI and digital mammography.

ACR MRI Accreditation Seal

Chesapeake Regional's Radiology Department is accredited in both MRI and ultrasound by the American College of Radiology (ACR). As an ACR accredited group, you are assured that the department adheres to nationally-accepted standards for care, professionalism and safety.

The Diagnostic Center of Chesapeake

Located on the first floor of the W. Stanley Jennings Outaptient Center, this 19,000-square-foot center brings together many of the hospital's diagnostic services, including MRI, CT, bone densitometry, ultrasounds, laboratory and more. Center hours are 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Ultrasound Accreditation

Ultrasound TealThe Jennings Outpatient Center and Chesapeake General Hospital Ultrasound Departments at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center have each been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in ultrasound as the result of an extensive review by the American College of Radiology (ACR). Ultrasound imaging, also known as sonography, uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of internal body parts to help providers diagnose illness, injury or other medical problems.

The Breast Center

On the first floor of the W. Stanley Jennings Outpatient Center the Breast Center features the latest breast screening diagnostic technologies in a conveniently located, discreet and comfortable setting. The center houses board-certified radiologists specially trained to read digital mammograms. In addition to all-digital mammography, the center offers the latest in breast biopsy and breast MRI. On-site radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hormonal and lymphedema therapies are available, as well as an on-site breast care coordinator and breast surgeon. ACR MRI Accreditation SealThe Breast Center recently earned its breast MRI accreditation from the American College of Radiology's Breast Magnetic Resonance Imaging Program. The Breast Center is the only facility in the area with this accreditation. Launched in 2010, the ACR's program enables facilities to improve and maintain the quality of their breast MRI services through a peer-review assessment of their processes, equipment, and the quality of their images.

Chesapeake Regional Imaging Centers

Chesapeake Regional Medical Center has partnered with Outpatient Imaging Affiliates' two Hampton Roads' outpatient facilities to form Chesapeake Regional Imaging Centers. The centers are located in Great Bridge and Kempsville.

Located three blocks from Chesapeake General Hospital, the Kingsborough center has two open MRIs to treat patients with special needs, obesity (up to 600 pounds) and claustrophobia. The Kempsville center is central to Norfolk and Virginia Beach residents and offers MRI, CT, X-ray and anthrogram services.

Late evening and Saturday appointments are available, in addition to those during traditional work hours.
Certified and fellowship-trained radiologists are on site to read the diagnostic tests, including members of Chesapeake Radiologists Ltd.
