Dr. Brian S. Buchberg
Dr. Buchberg received his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School, where he also received a Master of Science degree in biomedical sciences. He completed a residency in surgery at the University of California Irvine Medical Center in Orange, Calif. He also completed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Ore. Dr. Buchberg is a resident member of the American College of Surgeons and was a finalist for the Eastern Virginia Medical School Faulkner Award.
Dr. Alireza Farpour
Dr. Farpour received his medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and completed his surgical training at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk. He began his tenure at Chesapeake Regional in 1995 when he joined the practice of Dr. Enrique Saenz. Dr. Farpour is the past chief of the Department of Surgery and past president of both the Chesapeake Regional Medical Staff and the Chesapeake Medical Society.
Dr. Beth R. Jaklic
Dr. Jaklic received her medical degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va. She completed her general surgery residency at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., and her colon and rectal surgery fellowship at University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. A retired U.S. Navy captain, Dr. Jaklic was twice recognized as one of the top five surgeons in the Navy for patient satisfaction. During her career, Dr. Jaklic has held academic posts at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md. and Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Va. Dr. Jaklic is board-certified by the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery and is a fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons as well as the American College of Surgeons. She specializes in the treatment of all disorders of the colon and rectum, including colon cancer, inflammatory bowel diseases and anorectal disorders.
Luisa C. Kropcho, M.D.
Dr. Kropcho is a board-certified surgeon who specializes in breast surgical oncology. She earned her medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md. and completed a general surgery internship and general surgery residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Va. Dr. Kropcho also completed a fellowship in breast oncology at the John Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa Monica, Calif. Prior to joining The Breast Center, she was deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as a commander in the U.S. Navy. While there, Dr. Kropcho was in charge of the Level II Shock Trauma Platoon and Forward Resuscitative Surgical System. She is an assistant professor of surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and previously served as the medical director of the breast clinic at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. Dr. Kropcho is a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Breast Surgeons and Society of Surgical Oncology. She practices with Chesapeake Surgical Specialists and works at The Breast Center at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Stephen H. Lin
Dr. Lin earned his medical degree at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, N.C. He completed a residency in general surgery at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. Dr. Lin specializes in minimally invasive robotic and laparoscopic surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He most recently worked in private practice in Houston, Texas, where he was ranked in the 99th percentile in patient satisfaction by the Press Ganey patient satisfaction survey for three consecutive years and was listed as a “Texas Super Doctor: Rising Star” by Texas Monthly magazine in 2012 and 2013.
Dr. Glen L. Moore
General and Bariatric Surgeon
Dr. Moore received his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Va. He completed his general surgery internship and residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Va., where he also served as staff surgeon. During his career, Dr. Moore has held academic posts as an instructor in surgery at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md. Dr. Moore is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Moore specializes in general and bariatric surgery.
Dr. Ray T. Ramirez
Dr. Ramirez received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va., and his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Va. He completed his general surgery residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Va., and his colon and rectal surgery fellowship at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans. Dr. Ramirez is board-certified by the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. He is a fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons as well as the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Ramirez specializes in surgery of the small intestine, colon and rectum.
Dr. Lynne A. Skaryak
Dr. Skaryak received her medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, N.C. She completed both her general surgery and cardiothoracic residencies at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Skaryak is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. She has been involved in many multi-disciplinary thoracic oncology clinics and tumor boards for the most up-to-date care of patients. Dr. Skaryak specializes in malignancies of the lung, esophagus and chest wall.
Dr. David D. Spencer

Dr. Spencer received his medical degree from the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Mo. He completed his internship at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Va. and his general surgery residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego in San Diego. Dr. Spencer is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of both the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons. Dr. Spencer specializes in general and bariatric surgery.
