Chesapeake Regional Imaging Centers - Kingsborough is pleased to be able to offer state-of-the-art, patient-friendly MRI services.
What is patient friendly?
Many patients have difficulties with traditional MRI units because they use a closed, tube-shaped architecture. Patients are placed in the tube for the MRI procedure. Some patients experience feelings of claustrophobia and find it very difficult to cope with the confined space. Some larger patients are not able to physically fit into the tube and are therefore unable to have prescribed diagnostics performed.
Enter Oasis©
The Oasis MRI unit from Hitachi uses an open architecture that helps patients feel more relaxed and at ease. The open design and movable support table also helps accomodate patients with mobility issues such as the elderly and obese. The system can accommodate patients up to 660 pounds. Claustrophobic patients are don't feel trapped in an enclosed space. Authorized family and friends can remain with the patient throughout the procedure and this can be especially helpful with younger patients and the elderly.
