Palliative care Chesapeake Regional offers a Palliative Care program for seriously ill patients and their families. A physician, nurse practitioner, chaplain, social worker and registered nurse work with patients' health care providers to enhance the patient's quality of life. For us it's personal.

Palliative care helps patients and their families manage symptoms such as pain, nausea, shortness of breath, anxiety or fatigue. The team can also help patients maintain their independence and comfort, assist with decision-making and goal-setting, help with advance care planning, and provide emotional and spiritual support. Palliative care can be provided along with curative treatment from the time of diagnosis through end of life care and hospice.

Medical conditions that may benefit from Palliative Care include cancer, cardiac disease, respiratory disease, kidney failure, Alzheimer's disease, AIDS, amyotrophic sclerosis and multiple sclerosis.
