Our physicians

A multidisciplinary team consisting of specially trained bariatric surgeons, a bariatric coordinator, fully trained nurses, anesthesiologists, pulmonologists, cardiologists, intensivists, nephrologists, otolaryngologists, psychiatrists/psychologists, gastroenterologists, thoracic surgeons and orthopedists work together to provide quality and comprehensive care for our bariatric patients. Our surgeons are:

Dr. Eric Yancey, director of bariatric surgery

Yancey, a general and bariatric surgeon, received his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia’s School of Medicine, where he also completed his internship. Yancey did his residency at Howard University Hospital. He served as chief resident at the hospital from 1996-1997.

In addition to his medical degree, Yancey has a master’s degree in cardiovascular pharmacology. He is the recipient of several honors and awards, including the 2004 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award for Humanitarian Service to the Community. Yancey is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is a member of the Society for Bariatric Surgery.

Dr. Marc K. Boustany

Boustany, a general and bariatric surgeon, received his medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis. He completed his internship and residency at the State University of New York Health Science Center in Syracuse. He has experience in open and laparoscopic bariatric procedures. He offers RYGB and the Lap-Band procedure.

The physician is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and is a member of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery and the Christian Medical Association. He is a past chief of surgery at Chesapeake General Hospital and is currently the medical staff president of the Surgery Center of Chesapeake.
