Several vacancies are currently available at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center's assisted-living facilities, Georgian Manor and Cedar Manor.
The facilities are both located in Chesapeake. Georgian Manor is on Riverwalk Parkway in the Riverwalk neighborhood, and Cedar Manor is on Cedar Road.

Assisted living made easy
Elegant, warm and inviting, Georgian Manor is an assisted-living facility for older adults who are ready to give up the everyday tasks of cooking, cleaning and laundry but who aren't in need of a nursing home.
Nestled in the beautiful Riverwalk neighborhood of Chesapeake amid professionally landscaped grounds and sprawling courtyards, Georgian Manor offers furnished private rooms and private bathrooms. This beautiful facility which combines care, independence and old-fashioned Southern hospitality is designed to respect individual lifestyles while also providing daily activities that promote socialization and stimulate interests.
Each private room has individual climate controls, a refrigerator and sink, cable television hookup and private phone outlets. Tastefully decorated sitting areas are located throughout the building. Other amenities include housekeeping and laundry services, a library with a fireplace, a beauty salon and barber shop, television rooms in each wing and an in-house security system. Residents also can enjoy the benefits of a relaxing whirlpool bath, available with supervision.
Three delicious meals planned by certified nutritionists are prepared daily by the kitchen staff, who also caters to residents on restricted diets. A private dining room is available for special functions with family or friends.
Transportation is provided for physician's appointments and various day trips for residents who no longer drive. And for those that need a helping hand, there is staff to assist with all the activities associated with daily living, such as bathing, dressing and grooming. Plus, there's the added comfort of a 24-hour on-site licensed nurse and nursing assistants who administer medication, call bells in all rooms and a strong program of family communications.
Respite care
Sometimes older adults who live on their own or with family members may need temporary help.
They could require short-term specialized nursing home care following an illness or hospitalization.
They might want to relocate from the cold Midwest winters to the more temperate climate in Hampton Roads during January and February.
Or they might need somewhere to stay while their caregiver goes out-of-town on business or vacation.
In these and other situations where older adults could benefit from occasional assisted-living services, Chesapeake Regional Medical Center's Georgian Manor offers respite care.
The cost for respite care is $115 a day. The fees for the care include private rooms with shower, three meals daily and evening snacks, medication checks, housekeeping services and social activities.
An assessment to determine if an assisted-living setting is appropriate is required prior to resident acceptance, as well as tests for tuberculosis and H&P within 30 days of admission.
Openings are based on room availability.
Senior Day Care
In addition to short-term/respite care, a senior day program is available for seniors who want to remain living at home but wish to socialize with their peers in a supervised setting. Participants benefit from a trained staff, medication administration and specially designed activities and entertainment. Lunch and snacks are served, and transportation to and from Georgian Manor is available. The program operates from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Space is limited.
