2004 Gala to enhance Women's Services

Jan. 14, 2004 — The show will go on and go on in grand style! "The Big Top" A Circus Celebration, Chesapeake Health Foundation's Gala 2004, will play to a sold-out house Jan. 24 at the Chesapeake Conference Center.

With more than 35 sponsors pledging their support and 15 corporate tables in attendance, this year's gala will benefit the hospital's Women's Services.

Chesapeake General delivers more babies than any other hospital in the Hampton Roads area, said Maggie Conklin, director of Chesapeake Health's maternal/child and women's health. We'd like to extend this reputation to include all services provided to women across the full spectrum of their lives.

The proceeds from the gala will go toward renovating and expanding the hospital's women's unit as well as enhancing services within the comprehensive facility.

Funds also will be used for the Women's Library and Resource Center located on the newly renovated women's unit. The library will be available to patients who want to research their own surgeries or procedures before, during or after their hospital stay. It also will be open to women in the community to help them research their families needs.
