Chesapeake Hospital Authority elects new officers

Aug. 19, 2003 — The Chesapeake Hospital Authority recently elected officers for the 2003-2004 year.

Douglas V. Carson is the new chairman. Carson, president of Great Bridge Title & Disbursement Company, was appointed to the board in 1997.

Lonnie E. Craig will be serving as the vice chairman. A retired Chief of Police for the Virginia State Capitol Police Department, Craig was appointed to the board in 2001.

Jeffrey P. Powell, MD, DDS is secretary. An otolaryngologist with Ear Nose and Throat Specialists, Dr. Powell was appointed to the board in 1987. Peggy J. Matthews is treasurer. Matthews, manager of Human Resources and Administration for Oceaneering International, was appointed to the board in 1997.

The new president of the Chesapeake General Hospital medical staff is Anthony J. Distasio, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center, Inc.
