Chesapeake General Hospital plans birthday party for its 50,000 "babies"
Oct. 26, 2004 — Chesapeake General Hospital's 50,000th baby should arrive sometime in late November or early December.

To celebrate the milestone, the hospital is planning a birthday party and family reunion for all those born at the BirthPlace since its opening in 1986.
The party is set for 1 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 14, in the hospital's atrium lobby. Plenty of entertainment is planned. Birthday cake will be available for all, and the Hunt Family Fiddlers will lead the singing of "Happy Birthday." The well-known musical group will also perform for the gathering.
Clowns will entertain with face painting and magic acts. Kids can play in an inflatable Moon Walk, and take tours of the place they were born, the hospital's BirthPlace. Displays of other hospital services will be on exhibit.
Local radio personalities will conduct a live remote from the event, and a scoreboard that keeps track of the ongoing birth tally will be unveiled that day, too. Goody bags will be distributed, and special "babies" will receive individual gifts.
A group picture of all Chesapeake General Hospital's "babies" will take place at 2 p.m.
