Chesapeake Hospital Authority selects CEO to succeed Buckley

Nov. 23, 2004 — The Chesapeake Hospital Authority has selected Christopher R. Mosley, CHE, to succeed Donald S. Buckley, Ph.D., FACHE as the CEO of Chesapeake General Hospital and Chesapeake Health. Mosley is expected to assume this role in late January.

Anchored by the 310-bed Chesapeake General Hospital, which was founded in 1977, Chesapeake Health's family of providers now includes the 19-bed Outer Banks Hospital located in Nags Head, N.C., a partnership between Chesapeake Health and University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina; two assisted living facilities; home health and hospice; two fitness centers and the Surgery Center of Chesapeake.
Chesapeake Health employs approximately 2,400 employees and has a medical staff of 440.

Mr. Mosley is currently active in numerous business and civic organizations and we anticipate that he will become involved in community organizations in South Hampton Roads.

Mosley will be coming to Chesapeake from his current position as chief operating officer of St. Anthony Hospitals in Denver. St. Anthony Hospitals includes two community hospitals, an ambulatory surgery center, physician practices and three mountain-based clinics. St. Anthony Hospitals is part of the Centura Health system, a not-for- profit health care organization and the largest provider of health care in Colorado. Centura Health is a management company formed by two faith-based sponsors: Catholic Health Initiatives, the owner of St. Anthony Hospitals, and Adventist Health System.

Prior to his position as Chief Operating Officer of St. Anthony Hospitals, Mosley held several administrative positions at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital.
Mosley stated, "I am honored to join the Chesapeake Hospital Authority, the physicians, management and staff of Chesapeake Health in fulfilling the mission of providing of high quality health care to the citizens of Chesapeake and surrounding communities."

Mosley is married to Lillian Blutcher Mosley. The couple has three children.
