Chesapeake Health director is Virginia’s home care employee of the year
July 29, 2005 — Imelda Angat, a R.N. and director of patient services at Chesapeake Health’s ComfortCare Home Health and Hospice, has been named the Virginia Association of Home Care’s 2005 Employee of the Year.

The Virginia Beach resident was presented the award at the association’s annual convention in April. The award is given to home health employees who demonstrate outstanding commitments to their agency improvement through patient care or improved organizational systems.
Angat has served as patient services director for ComfortCare for nearly a decade. Under her leadership, the home health agency has achieved top accreditation scores, implemented laptop documentation and telemedicine, and received a “Diabetic Center of Excellence” designation by the American Diabetes Association. ComfortCare also recently scored above state averages on 10 out of 11 of outcome indicators by Medicare Home Health Compare.
Angat has worked at CGH and Chesapeake Health for 27 years. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of the Philippines and a nursing diploma from Oster School of Nursing in Ontario, Canada.
The Virginia Association for Home Care represents more than 160 home health care organizations throughout Virginia.
