New cancer support group gets people to help people

November 16, 2006 — A cancer diagnosis doesn’t mean the end of your social life. Chesapeake Health now sponsors, People Helping People, a new cancer support group aimed at helping members maintain an active and exciting lifestyle. The first meeting will take place at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 14.

Members of the group will take part in social outings, activities and cancer advocacy with fellow cancer patients, survivors, friends and family. Members will also work to form a hotline for fellow cancer patients.

The group will meet at 10:30 a.m. on the second Thursday of each month in Chesapeake General Hospital’s Cancer Treatment Center. For more information call 312-4264 to speak with Ellie Duarte, CGH’s Cancer Patient Navigator.
