ED wins Chairman's Award for exemplary service

April 26, 2007 - Chesapeake General Hospital’s Emergency Department is the inaugural recipient of the organization’s new Chairman’s Award for exemplary service.

Lonnie Craig, chairman of the Chesapeake Health Authority, presented this award to the ED staff at Chesapeake Health’s annual Service Awards banquet in February on behalf of the authority.

The ED is one of the busiest in the area, caring for more than 62,000 patients annually. Craig cited the ED staff’s efficiency and effectiveness, especially while several new initiatives and construction were being introduced to the department.

“With these new initiatives, the staff members produced outstanding performance results,” Craig said. “They lowered their turnaround time to about two hours and improved their through-put measures significantly. And, they did it with grace and compassion.”
