Start your summer with a check

May 31 , 2007 — One of the most common types of cancer is skin cancer, and it is also one of the most easily treated, especially if caught early. Even though you may be diligent about conducting self-exams, early detection requires healthcare professionals to take a closer look, too. That’s why each year Chesapeake Health offers free skin cancer screenings to the community.

This year’s screening is set for 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, June 12, at the Lifestyle Center. Free and open to the public, the screening will include information on how to prevent skin cancer and properly care for your skin. The American Cancer Society’s skin analyzer will be on site so participants
can see for themselves if they have sun damage.

Participants must preregister as space is limited. For more information, call 312-6132
