At Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, we welcome the public to examine our quality scores and compare our data with other facilities in Hampton Roads and throughout Virginia. For the last three decades, our mission has been to openly and honestly provide the highest standards of healthcare to our community. We take that mission seriously andit is reflected in the clinical data that we report. Chesapeake Regional Medical Center is committed to providing quality care in the safest environment for our patients and to being transparent in our reporting of this quality data to the public. We regularly submit important information to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and Hospital Quality Alliance so patients can compare and assess their options for care. As external validation, Chesapeake Regional has been cited by the Virginia Health Quality Center several times for excellence in quality improvement measures, receiving the organization’s bronze and silver achievement awards. These awards were given to the organization for meeting its goals for an extended time in such clinical areas as acute myocardial infarction, heart failure and pneumonia. Success was measured according to indicators set by CMS and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Our quality indicators, in fact, rival those of any other healthcare organization in the state. One of the measures cited is the percentage of patients who received the right kind of antibiotics at the right time before surgery. Our scores wrer 96 and 98 percent respectively. This is significantly higher than the national and Virginia averages. Another indicator reflects the percentage of pneumonia patients who receive flu vaccines. Our score was 95 percent, compared to the state average of 90 percent. Go to www.hospitalcompare.hhs.gov to see comparative scores.
