Surgical weight loss options Chesapeake Regional Medical Center offers a comprehensive weight-loss program for morbid obesity. In fact we are a Designated Center of Excellence in Bariatrics. Our patients are provided with a comfortable setting, and a program designed specifically for their individualized care. Patients take part in a carefully organized, step-by-step program in order to encourage weight-loss and well-being. They begin their weight-loss journey at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center by meeting with one of our specially-trained surgeons. Physicians will consult with patients and provide specific tests designed to evaluate their candidacy for bariatric surgery. During treatment, specially designed beds, chairs and bathrooms provide patients with a personalized setting. After the operation, educational support groups, nutrition counseling, ongoing physician support and exercise facilities are available to patients on-site. Weight Loss Surgery Patients at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center can expect a range of options for their surgery. Our surgeons offer both the open and laparoscopic Roux-en-y gastric bypass (RYGB), as well as laparoscopic gastric Lap-Band®. A multidisciplinary team of surgeons, nurses and specialty physicians provide our patients with top-notch care.
The bariatric coordinator works with gastric bypass patients from the moment they walk in the door. Not only the medical coordinator, she also supports them in preparing for the surgery, during the procedure and afterward. She is available during all the phases of this process to answer questions and to help solve problems. From pre-surgical screenings to post-operative counseling, the bariatric coordinator is there to help. She ensures patients receive nutrition counseling and helps to schedule exercise regimens in order to help the patient effect healthy lifestyle changes.
