Welcome to The Birthplace at Chesapeake General Hospital. By choosing to have your baby here, you'll be in very good company. More women choose to deliver in our Birthplace than any other community hospital in the region.

Expectant moms usually enter through the front entrance of the hospital and check in at the Labor and Delivery nurse's station on the third floor.

The Newborn Nursery is located on the Mother Baby Unit. At the Birthplace, you will find our nurses have a sincere concern for your well-being, and they carefully follow procedures to keep each precious newborn safe. After recent renovations, we've doubled the size of the nursery, which includes both the admissions nursery and the Level II nursery for babies who require extra support. There are also two private overnight rooms across from the nursery for moms who have been discharged, but whose babies may need to stay in the hospital longer.
